PUNO & LAKE TITICACA

DAY 1: From Cusco to Puno by train or coach(one of the “Great Train journeys of the World”). We travel all day through spectacular scenery to arrive in the early evening in Puno, on the shore of Lake Titicaca. Here you are met at the train station and transferred to the Hotel Francis - a modern, well-equipped 3 *** Hotel conveniently located in the centre of Puno. This evening you are free to explore Puno (B)

DAY 2: We board a boat for a cruise on Lake Titicaca, visiting the amazing floating reed islands of Uros and onto Taquile Island, famous for its beautiful weavings and friendly people and for those who fancy it an extremely tough climb to the top of the Island for spectacular views of Lake Titicaca. We have lunch in a typical restaurant on Taquile before returning to Puno and transferring back to the Hotel Francis. (B/L)

DAY 3: If time permits we can visit the Pre-Inca Ruins of Silustani before catching a flight back from Juliaca to Lima in time to connect with your international flight. (B)

Includes: Train or Bus Cusco - Puno, 2 nights 3 *** hotel in Puno, boat cruise on lake Titicaca and bus tour of Silustani ruins (time permitting), meals as indicated. Transfers to Juliaca airport.

Not-included: Meals where not indicated, airport tax ($4), tips, personal expenses, internal flights.

Daily as extension to any Tour.         
Please note The train only operates five times a week, there is a luxury bus alternative on these days. The bus is a very pleasant alternative stopping at some extra ruins en route. The tour can also operate in reverse.

OPTIONS: It is possible to spend one night on Amantani Island from Puno. You are allocated fairly basic accommodation (a sleeping bag is recommended) but the sunsets and sunrises over Lake Titicaca from the top of this beautiful island are well worth any hardship. Also possible is a 1/2day tour to the Silustani Pre-Inca burial ruins - another interesting side tour with great photographic possibilities, these ruins can be easily accessed from the Puno-Juliaca road.
