This trek passes through the far western region of Nepal, an area explored by very few western trekkers.
We will trek past the clear waters of Rara Lake through wilderness forests rich in wildlife. There is much to see of cultural interest, from the ruins of ancient palaces to Buddhist monasteries built inside caves.
We visit Nynba village, the home of our friend and guide Tenzin Norbu, whose ancestors migrated to western Nepal from the Ngari region of Tibet near Mt Kailash. Their way of life is distinctly Tibetan and contrasts with that of the Hindu hill tribe people seen earlier. Our adventure culminates at the Raling Monastery where we can witness a special festival that is unique to western Nepal.
