Our
two week itinerary takes us straight into the heart of the Khumbu with
the short flight to Lukla. We soon enter Sagarmatha National Park and
trek toward Namche Bazaar where we have time to visit the Sherpa museum
and watch the sunset on Mt Everest and the Lhotse/Nuptse wall.
We spend a night at Tengboche to enjoy the 360' mountain panorama and visit the monastery where we may be lucky enough to witness a ceremony. From here we descend to the picturesque village of Khumjung. The ancient gompa here contains some grotesque masks of demons and you can be shown the fabled yeti scalp. There are many possibilities for day hikes to high viewpoints of the Himalayan giants....Makalu, Everest, Cho-Oyu, Gaurishanker and the beautiful peak of Ama Dablam, before returning to Lukla for the spectacular mountain flight to Kathmandu. Trek grade :-
easy/moderate, Join a confirmed group departure Sept 28 to Oct 12
