BHUTAN

BHUTAN – THE LAST BUDDHIST KINGDOM

Hidden in the Himalayas, between India and China, the Bhutanese people have succeeded in maintaining their cultural heritage that is preserved in age-old traditions.

bhutanThe Royal Government of Bhutan’s policy is to restrict tourism to little over 5,000 visitors a year in order to maintain the country’s traditions and wealth of bio-diversity. The rich Himalayan flora and fauna, snow capped peaks and beautiful rural landscapes leave a lasting impression upon the minds of those who are fortunate enough to visit this last Buddhist Kingdom.

At certain times of year festivals draw thousands of local people, some of whom walk for days, to see the masked dances or tsechu performed in the courtyards of ancient dzongs and monasteries.  The ideal way to witness these festivals is as part of a tour or trekking holiday.

Golden Hill Travel is pleased to be working with the first co-operative travel company in Bhutan

Our group size is limited to 12 persons and we have a tiered pricing structure according to group size.

Tailormade –  we can arrange special interest tours and private treks for a minimum of two persons. For two people the cost of a tour or trek in Bhutan is $240 per person per day.

All our tours begin and end in Kathmandu to allow those with more time to explore the fascinating Kingdom of Nepal.
